Air duct cleaning is the process of removing accumulated dust, debris, allergens, mold spores, pet dander, and other contaminants from your home or building’s HVAC system — the supply ducts, return ducts, registers, grilles, and coils. When the system runs, anything sitting in those ducts circulates straight into the air you breathe. At Dependable Duct Cleaning, we use precision source-removal equipment and HEPA-filtered vacuums to clean the full system, not just the registers you can see. We’re family-owned, NADCA and OSHA-10 certified, and based in Southbury, serving Darien and the Fairfield County shoreline. When you call, you’re reaching a local family, not a national call center.
For homeowners, dirty ducts usually show up in small ways: a persistent musty odor, dust that resettles a day after you wipe it down, or allergy and asthma symptoms that get worse indoors. For commercial property owners, the effects are operational — higher HVAC energy costs, tenant or employee complaints, and indoor-air-quality concerns. Our residential and commercial duct cleaning follow the same careful, contained approach either way.
No pressure, no national hotline. Reach the family that actually does the work — serving Darien and the Fairfield County shoreline from our Southbury base.

Darien was Stamford’s Middlesex Parish until 1820, a rural community of roughly a thousand farmers, shoemakers, fishermen, and coastal traders strung along the Boston Post Road. The railroad arrived in 1848, and after the Civil War prosperous New Yorkers began building summer homes at Tokeneke, Long Neck Point, and Noroton — houses designed for July rather than January. Those houses, along with the Federal and Greek Revival buildings in the Post Road historic district, were heated for generations by fireplaces, stoves, or oil before forced-air HVAC was retrofitted in, leaving non-standard duct runs where dust and debris settle for decades.
The oldest part of Darien runs along the Boston Post Road, where the National Register district takes in the 1837 Greek Revival First Congregational Church, the town hall, and a cross-section of houses spanning most of the town's history. Noroton and Noroton Heights grew up around the old business center and the rail line, and the ductwork in those homes has had well over a century to collect dust, dander, and grit. We clean single-family homes and older houses throughout both, and we handle commercial duct cleaning for the offices, shops, and restaurants along the Post Road.
South toward the water, Darien runs to shoreline neighborhoods laid out in the 1910s and 1920s — Tokeneke, Cedar Gate, Delafield Island, Salem Straits — with large houses, long duct runs, and multi-zone systems that give contaminants far more places to sit than a standard home does. Salt air, harbor humidity, and the long Connecticut heating season, when homes stay sealed from November into March, all feed the musty, dust-laden buildup we're called about most.

The only duct cleaning company that actually came and looked at the job before providing an estimate. In a business that has too many unethical players, I felt like I could trust Sal and his team. They were neat and thorough, and while the price was a little higher than others, I got full value for what I spent.
Sal explained everything in detail and answered all of my questions. The crew was on time, professional, and did a great job. My ducts had a musty smell and I was waking up stuffy every morning — that's completely gone now. I'll be hiring them again next year.
The best in the business. We've had them out twice in the past three years and they do an incredible job. Very professional, very personable, and the work speaks for itself. You would be missing out if you didn't hire this company.
They were polite, considerate — offered to remove their shoes — on time, efficient, and knowledgeable. No high-pressure sales, just great work from start to finish. I always refer them when someone asks.
Most Darien residential cleanings take 2 to 4 hours, depending on the size of the home and how complex the duct system is. Larger homes, multi-zone systems, and commercial properties take longer, and the bigger waterfront houses often run past that. We give you a realistic timeframe during your free in-home estimate before any work begins.
Yes. The Post Road district and the streets around Noroton hold Federal, Greek Revival, and Victorian houses that were heated for generations before forced air was retrofitted in. Those conversions leave non-standard duct runs through original framing and old chimney chases where dust and debris collect, and we clean them carefully and keep the work contained.
Most Darien homes benefit from air duct cleaning every three to five years. Homes with pets, allergy or asthma sufferers, multi-zone systems, waterfront humidity, or recent renovations may need it more often, and high-occupancy commercial properties should consider annual cleaning.
